02 How it works
Step in, push off, paddle away.
No experience needed — the Kleine Nete has barely any current, so paddling there and back is no problem at all. Choose a gentle descent or a 25 km challenge.
- Book online
- Pick your date, time, start and finish point and your boat. Free cancellation up to 1 day in advance.
- Arrive in Lichtaart
- Check in at Ark van Noë. We provide the briefing, paddles and life jacket. Valuables fit in a waterproof barrel.
- Paddle your trip
- Follow the Kleine Nete at your own pace. Stopping at a café along the way is fine. Dogs? Allowed on board.
- Arrival
- On a there-and-back trip you simply paddle home. On a one-way trip you arrange your own transport, or we agree to bring your bikes to the finish point (from at least 10 bikes).

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, booking is required via the online form. We recommend booking a few days ahead, especially in July and August and on sunny weekends.

What if the weather is bad?
You can cancel free of charge up to 1 day before your trip. In case of storms or extremely high or low water levels we let you know proactively and rebook you free of charge.

How do I arrange transport on a one-way trip?
On a one-way trip you finish in Herentals or Grobbendonk and arrange your own return (your own car at the finish, a taxi, bikes or public transport). For groups from 10 bikes we handle the bike transport (€5 per bike).

Can children come along?
Young children fit on the middle bench of a Canadian canoe. The double kayak has an extra seat at the back for a small child up to around 6 years old. Everyone must take a life jacket on board.

Can the dog come along?
Yes, house-trained dogs are welcome in both canoe and kayak. Mention it when booking so we can have the right boat ready for you.

How experienced do I need to be?
No experience needed. The Kleine Nete has barely any current, so anyone can manage paddling there and back. Before you set off you get a short briefing on paddling technique and safety.

Can I stop along the way?
Absolutely. There are waterside cafés and restaurants at every departure point (Retie, Kasterlee, Lichtaart and Herentals). Pull your boat onto the bank, enjoy a well-earned break and hop back in later.

Cash or card?
You can pay in cash or by Bancontact or bank card. For departures on location, cash is often the easiest.
